Hays County Offers E-filing Beginning Today

Beginning today attorneys in Hays and surrounding counties will have the ability to file civil documents in the Hays County Justice of the Peace Courts electronically through eFiling for Courts, a service developed by TexasOnline, the official Web site of the State of Texas and offered through the Hays County Justice Courts.

Electronic filing enables filers to submit civil documents online without printing, standing in line at the Justice Courts, or hiring a courier. Filers can send documents through a secure Web site 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week from any location. The electronic filing rules in Texas allow filers to submit most documents up to 11:59 p.m. and still meet the filing deadlines.

For more information, go to www.TexasOnline.com/eFiling or www.jp.co.hays.tx.us.

AYLA Seeks Donations for Toiletries Drive

AYLA is sponsoring a toiletries drive through March 19 to benefit both the clients of Caritas of Austin and the homeless and battered women who attend AYLA’s annual Women’s Resource Fair on March 27. The goal is simple: collect as many toiletries as possible for individuals who cannot afford the everyday luxury of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, cosmetics, etc. AYLA welcomes cash donations (made payable to the AYLA Foundation) and the following unopened items:

  • shampoo and conditioner
  • soap
  • toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • moisturizers
  • cosmetics
  • deodorant
  • disposable razors
  • other similar items
This is the time to get rid of those free hotel toiletries and cosmetics-counter samples. In a prior drive, AYLA collected more than 1,000 pounds of toiletries and $1,300 in cash. We need your help to do that again!

If your office has a collection sponsor, drop your donations off at your office as directed by your sponsor. If not, drop your donations off at the Austin Bar Association’s offices at 816 Congress Avenue, Suite 700. If you have any questions, contact Kennon Peterson at kennonpeterson@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance for your support!

The league will run from April through June of this year and be comprised of practicing attorneys and law students (don't be intimidated by their younger legs).
