Austin Bar Opens Online Directory to the Public

As you may know, the Austin Bar Association has maintained an online directory for members only for the past two years. In two weeks, we will be launching a new online directory that is open to the public.

Prior to launching, we want to ensure that everyone's information is correct and that we have the appropriate address and phone number available to the public.

Please click here to check your information. Please e-mail Carol Tobias at Carol@austinbar.org to update your information or your photo.

The information in the online directory comes from the Austin Bar Association's database. Most members provide an office address at which to receive Austin Bar information; however, some provide their residence instead. For those members who have only provided a residential address, the new online directory will show the address as blank. If you are one of those members and would like a different address to show in the online directory, please contact Carol Tobias with that information.

Also, if you would like to have a link to your Web site, list an area of practice, or add a bio to your entry, please fill out the Area of Practice sheet and fax or mail the form to the Austin Bar with payment.

Please contact Carol Tobias at 472-0279 x106 with any questions.

Texas Access to Justice Foundation 25th Anniversary Gala, May 27

Date: Wednesday, May 27
Location: AT&T Executive Conference Center, 1900 University Ave.
Time: Cocktail reception - 6:30 p.m.; Dinner - 7:15 p.m.
Cost: Individual tickets - $250
Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

The Access to Justice Foundation Gala celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, which funds legal aid programs throughout the state. Host committee chairs for the gala include prominent Texas attorneys who are donating their time for the effort.

The evening will include CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin as the keynote speaker and Austin’s own Marcia Ball as featured entertainment.

The Texas Access to Justice Foundation, which is the primary funding organization for legal aid in Texas, receives a significant amount of its funding from Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) and uses this money for grants to legal aid providers across the state. The Foundation has granted more than $200 million to legal aid organizations during its 25-year history. However, as interest rates have plummeted, legal aid funding has declined precipitously, making fundraising efforts such as the 25th Anniversary Gala particularly critical and urgent.

Early sponsorship sales have been successful, though additional sponsorships are needed and available. For more information about sponsorship opportunities and tickets to the event, visit www.teajf.org/gala or call 320-0099, ext.107.
