Veterans' Project Needs Your Help!

On Tuesday, June 29 the Austin Bar is holding a free legal advice clinic for veterans at the VA Outpatient Clinic at 2901 Montopolis Drive, Room 747. Topics will include Ch. 7 Bankruptcy, Child Support, Social Security, and Wills/Estate Planning to name a few.

The Veterans' Project committee is also reaching out to the homeless veterans in Austin. The top request from veterans is for bus passes to get to the event and around the city. The Austin Bar is requesting donations for Capital Metro Day Passes. The Passes cost $2 each and will be available wherever the event is advertised and at the event itself. These passes could be the key to many attendees receiving the legal advice they need.

Please consider donating to the Austin Bar Association, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700. Checks should be made payable to the Austin Bar Foundation, but please note that it is for the Veterans' Project.

20th Anniversary of Family Eldercare's Summer Fan Drive

Each summer thousands of families and individuals call Family Eldercare's Summer Fan Drive seeking relief from the heat with the gift of a simple fan. Whiles fans are critical to helping vulnerable families endure our intense summer heat, many of their clients have other urgent needs such as food to feed their family, help with their monthly rent and utility bills, or transportation to the doctor. Many of those they serve through the fan drive might have air conditioning; however, they live on fixed incomes and often must choose between groceries or cooling their home.

Since the program began 20 years ago, Family Eldercare's Fan Drive has provided more than 55,000 fans and 700 air conditioners to more than 25,000 households in Central Texas. As the severe Texas heat hits once again, Family Eldercare wants to ensure that they can provide thousands of fans and linkages to critical services for low-income elders, adults with disabilities, and families with children. They need your help to offer relief.

A donation of $30 will provide two fans for a family or individual in need. Additionally, a contribution of $175 will provide a window air conditioning unit for a medically fragile person at risk for heat related illness. Take a moment to donate online or mail your contribution to Family Eldercare Summer Fan Drive, 2210 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX 78756.
