Join us Nov. 3 for 16th Annual Bar & Grill Show: Austin Legal
Bar & Grill returns for another performance featuring hilarious skits and the musical prowess of the Bar & Grill Singers.
Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Austin Bar Foundation, which provides funding to several law-related
organizations including Volunteer Legal Services.
Due to renovations taking place at several Austin-area performance venues, the show will be temporarily taking place at the
Westlake High School Fine Arts Center. The pre-party will be held at Tres Amigos, 1801 S Capital of Texas Hwy.
Tickets are $20 and $35 and can be purchased in person at the Austin Bar office through Nov. 2. General seating tickets can
also be purchased at the door, Nov. 3.

Save a Life Over Lunch, October 29

Schedule an hour out of your day to participate in the Austin Bar Blood Drive and you can be someone’s hero during the holiday season. The Blood Center needs to collect 55,000 blood donations to have blood products available for as many as 150,000 area patients, and to maintain their goal of keeping a four to five day supply in stock.

People's Law School Committee Meeting, October 25

If you are interested in organizing this half-day program of free basic law classes for the public, join us for the
first committee meeting for next year’s People Law School.
Peoples Law School will take place Feb. 23 at The University of Texas School of Law from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The committee
needs your help to bring free legal education to those in the public that need it most.

Volunteers Needed to Help with Wills Clinic, October 25
The Conley-Guerrero Senior Citizens Activity Center has asked Volunteer Legal Services to conduct a Wills Clinic at the center for their members who meet the VLS income eligibility requirements. Attorneys will have an initial meeting with their clients on Oct. 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m. On Nov. 8 at 10:00 a.m., attorneys will meet to review and execute the documents.

Court Appointed Special Advocates has many attorneys volunteer that do not practice Family Law, but want to offer their help. CASA is currently starting a new recruitment campaign to attract more male volunteers to be strong role models for the young men CASA represents.

Federal Court Practice Seminar, November 7

MCLE: 7 hours, including 1.00 hour of ethics

All registration forms must be postmarked by October 31, 2007, to ensure a space at the seminar.
Sponsored by the Austin Chapter of the FBA and the Austin Bar Association, the evening will feature federal judges, experienced civil practitioners, criminal prosecutors, and federal public defenders. This seminar presents the nuts and bolts of federal court practice, with a focus on practicing in the Western District of Texas, as well as current hot topics, including electronic filing, new federal sentencing guidelines, and electronic discovery. The seminar satisfies the course requirement for admission to the Western District of Texas.
