Business, Corp., Tax Law Section CLE

Topic: SLAPPED! Understanding Texas’s Anti-SLAPP Lawsuits and Their Implications for Business Litigators
Speaker: María Amelia Calaf, Wittliff Cutter Austin

A strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP) lawsuit is intended to censor, intimidate, and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition. Such lawsuits have been made illegal in many jurisdictions on the grounds that they impede freedom of speech. This CLE will provide guidance on how Texas Anti-SLAPP statutes impact business litigation.
