Austin Bar Member Benefits

ONLINE MEMBER DIRECTORY

Our online Membership Directory  featuring all of our members, is accessible by the public.  If you are an Austin Bar member and would like to add your areas of practice to your member listing, please download a .pdf of our Areas of Practice Form.  Fill it out and return it to Carol Tobias.  Once updated, your listing in the directory will be searchable by name, firm and areas of practice.

ONLINE AUSTIN COURTS RESOURCE GUIDE

Austin Bar members have access to the online Travis County Bench Book: Court Resource Guide, which features information on the Austin area courts, including questionnaires answered by judges, contact information for each court, and local rules for each court. CLE DISCOUNTS

 Austin Bar members enjoy a reduced fee for all CLE offerings sponsored by the Austin Bar. The Austin Bar Association offers approximately 10 – 12 full day Continuing Legal Education programs and sponsors several free members only programs throughout the year. 

ONLINE CLES

 Austin Bar members have access to an online video library of CLEs that have taken place at the Austin Bar. Contact the Austin Bar for the password to the page. To receive CLE credit, you must be an Austin Bar member and fill out the form to the right of the video.

The Austin Bar also offers discounts at CLEonline.com. CLEonline.com delivers high-quality online CLE seminars at a discount to Austin Bar members at their convenience.  Members receive 30% off all Austin Bar Association CLEs.  Contact Isabel Salazar  to get the member code necessary to receive the discount.  Then, click here and select “Content Provider”, enter “Austin Bar” in that field, and then click “Search”. 


ACCESS TO TEMPORARY DOWNTOWN OFFICE SPACE

Four cubicles and a small conference space are available for members to use at the Austin Bar office, on a drop-in basis.  This service is provided for attorneys who don’t office downtown, but who need a place to work for a few hours while on a break at the courthouse or between meetings.  Contact Marissa Lara-Arebalo  to check on space availability.

WEEKLY CIVIL JURY TRIAL SCHEDULE UPDATES

 Members may opt-in to receive a text message containing information on jury trials scheduled at the HMS Civil Courthouse.  Texts are sent as soon as the court schedule is finalized on Monday mornings of jury weeks.  Find out what is going on at the courthouse, watch a voir dire session, or observe experienced attorneys in action.  To opt in: Text the keyword “austinbar” to 313131. Or, fill in the information in the space provided to the right.

MEMBER DISCOUNTS AND SERVICES

 Austin Bar has been working with several companies to offer discounts to our members. Members will want to begin taking advantage of these numerous cost-saving opportunities as soon as possible. View Member Discounts & Services.

100 CLUB MEMBERSHIP

 Firms with four or more attorneys who have 100 percent participation in the Austin Bar Association receive 100 Club recognition. Every year, the Austin Bar publishes the 100 Club list in the September issue of Austin Lawyer. View current 100 Club members 

SUBSTANTIVE LAW SECTIONS

The Austin Bar offers members the opportunity to join any of our 22 substantive law sections. Each section elects officers, with the Chair of each section serving on the Austin Bar Board of Directors. Throughout the year, the sections meet to conduct business and offer various CLE programs. 

COMMITTEES

Through 11 committees, Austin Bar members can become involved in various community and law related activities. From our award-winning Law-Related Education projects to the annual Austin Adoption Day to the Fee Dispute and Fitness Committees, Austin Bar offers myriad opportunities for involvement.

AUSTIN LAWYER

 Austin Lawyer is an award-winning newsletter published 10 times a year for members of the Austin Bar Association. Its focus is on Austin Bar activities, policies and decisions of the Austin Bar Board of Directors, legislation affecting Austin attorneys, and other issues impacting lawyers and the legal professionals. It also includes information on decisions from the Third Court of Appeals, CLE opportunities, members’ and committees’ accomplishments, and various community and association activities. BAR CODE

Bar Code is the Austin Bar Association’s weekly enewsletter featuring up to 10 items or events of interest to the legal community. If you don’t receive Bar Code, but would like to be added to the email list, please contact Kelli Horan

AUSTIN BAR ASSOCIATION WEBSITE

Austin Bar Association was the first local bar in Texas to offer a website. The Bar continues to utilize the latest technology to benefit our members and the public. The site offers a career center, calendar of activities,  current news and activities, on-line registration for CLE courses and other association activities.In addition to offering members the Austin Lawyer, frequent continuing education opportunities, networking possibilities, and numerous occasions to participate in community service, the Austin Bar Association leadership is continuously looking for ways to improve member benefits.
