Austin Lawyer Submission Guidelines
- All submissions including columns, features, announcements, photos, etc., are due to the Managing Editor by the 5th of the month preceding that issue.*
- Typical articles and columns should run about about 350 to 500 words and should not exceed 800 words.
- Submissions must be submitted via e-mail either as a Microsoft Word or WordPerfect attachment or in the body of the e-mail. It must be double-spaced with no footnotes, endnotes, legal citations, charts or graphs. (Third Court of Appeals Column is an exception.) Do not double space between sentences. You may submit a title and headline, but the use of it is at the discretion of the editor.
- Articles may be edited for content and length. If significant editing is required that may affect the substance of the article, the author will be notified.
- Only columns and feature articles will get a byline.
- Photographs and/or images illustrating the topic are welcome, but cannot be returned.
NOTE: Do not use special formatting. All formatting must be removed before content is sent to layout. No special characters, margins, columns, etc.
*The 5th of each month preceding the issue is the typical deadline for submissions. Please see this year's editorial calendar for actual deadlines.
