Candidates for the Austin Bar 2011 - 2012 Board of Directors
Ballot Box Voting Information | AYLA Candidates
The Austin Bar Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association will be holding elections for their respective 2011 - 2012 Boards of Directors.
Voting shall be conducted via electronic ballot from Thursday, April 14 through Friday, May 6 and in person. If you do not receive an electronic ballot or you choose to vote in person, you may do so at the Austin Bar/AYLA office, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700. In addition, the last chance to vote will be at the Law Day Luncheon & Annual Meeting on May 6 at the W Austin Hotel, 200 Lavaca St.
Below is a list of candidates for the Austin Bar board. The new board will take office July 1, 2011, along with David Chamberlain of Chamberlain♦McHaney, who will take the position of Austin Bar President at that time. Lance Sharp of The Sharp Firm is running unopposed for the position of President-Elect. Chris Oddo of McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore is running unopposed for the position of Secretary. Judge Elisabeth Earle,
County Court at Law No. 7 is running unopposed for the position of Treasurer.

Director (4 positions, 2-year terms)
Leslie Dippel of the Travis County Attorney's Office has long been active with the Austin Bar Association. She has served on several committees including co-chair of the Bench Bar, Pick Me! A Jury of My Peers, and the Diversity committee, as well as a member of the Judicial Affairs Committee. She is also a volunteer with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.
Craig Duewall of Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller currently serves as Chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Austin Bar. He is also a member of the Construction Section. A graduate of South Texas College of Law, Duewall's decade of legal experience includes the representation of both claimants and defendants in complex cases in a variety of areas.
Bradley Houston has practiced law for more than 20 years. Currently a solo practitioner focusing on personal injury and wrongful death trial and appellate law, Houston has served on the Austin Bar Board of Directors in the past. He is also founder and chair of the Austin Bar Fit Bar Committee.
Mike Johnson is a partner with Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons. Long active with the Austin Bar and the Austin Young Lawyers Association, Johnson is currently the chair of the Judicial Affairs Committee. He has also served on the Bench Bar Committee and is a former member of the AYLA Board of Directors.
Jason Snell of the Snell Law Firm has more than 10 years experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters. He has been active with the Austin Bar's Law Day Committee and the Publications Committee. He is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas.
Amy Welborn of Chamberlain♦McHaney has served on the Austin Bar Board for the past eight years. She has been active with several committees including Bench Bar and Bar & Grill. She co-chaired the 2011 Foundation Gala. She is also a former president of AYLA and former chair of the Lawyer Referral Service.
