Administrative Law Section CLE

Topic: A Primer on Statutory Interpretation in the Administrative Law Context
Speaker: Daniel J. Olds, associate with Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta

The ability to interpret and argue from statutes is one of the most important skills for lawyers today. At the state and federal levels, there are a myriad of statutes touching on every area of law. And, statutory interpretation is especially important in administrative law. This presentation focuses on the basics of how to properly interpret statutes. It will cover the basic rules of statutory interpretation, some of the theoretical debates underpinning these rules, and will look at real-life cases to see how judges approach questions of statutory interpretation.
