Business, Corp., & Tax Section CLE

Topic: How Texas Business Lawyers Can Effectively and Ethically Use Social Media for Business Development
Speakers: Shannon Montgomery, Montgomery Law PLLC; Zach Wolfe, Fleckman & McGlynn PLLC

Our co-presenters—a business lawyer who represents social media influencers and a litigator who publishes a weekly law blog—will cover how Texas business lawyers can effectively use social media in their business development and networking while complying with the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. Ethics issues will include (1) do you have to file your social media profiles and posts as advertising with the State Bar? (2) should your posts include a “call to action” soliciting business? (3) can you use social media to publicize results obtained for clients? (4) can you compare yourself to other lawyers? (5) what are you allowed to include in your LinkedIn profile? Both practical and ethical tips will be shared.
