Free Legal Advice Virtual Clinic for Veterans
The Austin Bar Foundation’s Veterans Legal Assistance Clinics have been temporarily suspended. We will return to the face to face clinics whenever conditions allow. In the interim, we will be holding virtual clinics. Veterans will fill out applications on-line or over the phone prior to the date of the clinic. Volunteer attorneys will be sent the applications for review prior to the virtual clinic.
The Austin Bar Association offers free legal advice to military veterans and their families on a monthly basis at the Austin VA Outpatient Clinic. Attorney volunteers will provide brief, legal advice.
Veterans, please note: You must apply by Friday April 24, 2020. Attorney volunteers will not be able to provide legal services such as wills or filing for divorce during the virtual clinic. We will provide local legal resources if further legal assistance is needed.
To best assist you, please send any paperwork that is relevant to your case to Isabel Salazar, the Veterans Legal Assistance Program coordinator at Isabel@austinbar.org. This includes copies of all pertinent claims, correspondence and rulings from the court, agency, or VA. If you are seeking veterans benefits or a discharge upgrade, please bring a copy of your DD214 and any evidence related to your claim. Benefit counselors are available at the VA Commission office onsite.
There will be no CLE Hours for this opportunity.
