The Austin Bar Association Preservation Committee CLE Seminar

Topic: What are the Legal Issues Presented by the City of Austin’s Proposed Changes in City Plans, Zoning and Property Use
Speakers: Michael Curry, Michael Curry, PC; Danny Smith, Popp Hutcheson; Laura Sharp, The Sharp Firm

Many people have seen or heard about Code Next and the controversy surrounding its roll out and roll back.  A new proposal from The Austin City Council may have an even shorter time fuse for community and business input before being forever finalized.  You or your clients may not feel sufficiently informed about the process and the changes. This seminar will shed light on the proposed changes, and how you can advise clients on steps they can take before the door for community input closes.  Michael Curry will enlighten you on what is at stake. We will then help you discuss deed restrictions, where to find them, how to use them, what protections they do and do not offer, how to prevent waiver, and defenses to the assertion of deed restrictions.  We will also touch on tax issues your clients may ask about.

Free. Lunch will be provided.

This is strictly an educational session offered as a benefit for Austin Bar Association members. The Austin Bar Association does not endorse any position on this matter.
