Holiday Programs
(Holiday Baskets & Reindeer Games)

The Holiday Baskets project utilizes the resources of the legal community to provide special holiday groceries as well as a gifts and informative materials, to Austin-area families in need. Reindeer Games is an annual holiday celebration for foster, economically disadvantaged, and/or special-needs children.  To maximize efficiency, this year the projects will be combined so that all families who receive holiday baskets can have their children invited to the Reindeer Games event and vice versa.

Reentry Project

This committee provides information to people exiting the criminal justice system in areas such as job readiness, housing, and reuniting with family members when appropriate. In previous years, AYLA has created a brochure in English and Spanish and created a video to reach out to this population. This year, the committee will create a Spanish video.

Day of Service

This project entails coordinating multiple community service events on MLK Day, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Austin Bar/AYLA Leadership Academy was established to assist Austin-area lawyers in making a difference in our community, serving the Bar, and promoting professional development.

Community Service Days

This committee provides lawyers and non-lawyers with periodic opportunities to volunteer for non-profit organizations. The community service events provide an opportunity for lawyers to make a relatively small time commitment, usually just a few hours one day, while being exposed to various charitable organizations and meeting other members of the legal and non-legal community.

Bar & Grill

This committee presents an Annual musical production.

RUnway for justice

This committee plans and organizes a fashion show fundraiser in the spring, featuring attorneys and judges as models.

Personal Crisis Assistance Program

Is your practice suffering because of a personal crisis? Are you enduring tough times, but don’t know where to turn? The Personal Crisis Assistance Program is here to help in your time of need.

PCAP was created in 1996 to support Austin-area attorneys who face an immediate need for temporary financial or practice assistance due to a personal crisis. The objective of this program, funded by the Austin Young Lawyers Association Foundation, is to serve as a protection for lawyers and their clients when personal emergencies harm a lawyer’s practice. PCAP is available to attorneys who work or reside in Travis County and who are eligible for regular membership in AYLA.
