women’s resource fair
The Austin Young Lawyers Association and its Foundation will hold its 11th annual Women’s Resource Fair on Saturday, May 5, 2018 benefiting women experiencing homelessness and survivors of domestic violence. We are seeking sponsors to support this worthwhile community event.
The Women’s Resource Fair is a comprehensive all day program that provides a variety of free resources, including legal assistance, medical care and mental health services, job skills and educational counseling, social services, financial counseling, haircuts, a clothing closet, childcare, breakfast and lunch.
AYLA is excited to report that over the past ten years, the event has helped nearly 2,800 women and children in our community. We expect to have a huge turnout this year given the obvious need for the event.
The response of the participants and the community that serves this population has been overwhelmingly positive. The following are excerpts from surveys completed by attendees regarding what they liked most about the fair: “The many resources available that I never thought to consider”; “Legal and Medical”; “The fact that all services were available at one location”; “Medical help which I wouldn’t have done for years, if at all”; “Access to legal services. Food”; “Information about domestic violence”; “Food/clothes”; “Very informative and everyone was very helpful”; and “Everything-I am truly grateful.”
