The 2023 Expunction Expo will be held on May 20th. The Expo will help residents remove old Travis County arrest records from their criminal history. At the event, attorney volunteers will help community members expunge their Travis County criminal records, allowing them better access to both housing and jobs, as well as giving them a sense of relief.
 
A CLE training will be provided on May 11th, the link to the CLE will be provided when you register for the Expo.

The Guadalupe parking garage will be closed from 7PM to 6AM, Monday to Friday, and all weekend. All visitors must exit the Guadalupe Garage by 7PM so their vehicles will not be locked in overnight.

A limited amount of seats are still available for the annual TCWLF/TCWLA Grants & Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 20, at the Fairmont Hotel. TCWLF will give $60,000 in grants to local providers of pro-bono legal services to women and children in Travis County and awards will be given out to local female attorneys who are leaders in their fields!

Each year, the Austin Black Lawyers Association Foundation awards a scholarship to graduating seniors from Austin area ISDs who exhibit leadership, community service, good scholastic standing, extracurricular involvement, and financial need. The scholarship is in honor of Mr. Virgil C. Lott, who was the first African American to graduate from the University of Texas School of Law. Students can apply online on the ABLA Website or download the application and email it along with the required documents to Foundation@austinblacklawyers.org.
 
All application packets must be received or postmarked by 11:59pm on Friday, April 28, 2023. The ABLA Foundation will be celebrating the scholarship winners at its annual Topgolf Fundraiser on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

The Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) hosts an online, innovative platform, Pro Bono Matters for Children Facing Deportation, which serves as a virtual bulletin board where legal service providers post available pro bono opportunities to help immigrant children and families nationwide. In addition to our work in connecting children's legal cases with pro bono practitioners, CILA regularly hosts trainings for immigration practitioners and pro bono attorneys. If you are interested, we invite you to attend our upcoming virtual training, "Pro Bono Representation of Unaccompanied Children in Immigration Matters," on May 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm CT on Zoom.
