Mark your calendars for these important events.

Friday, December 2, at noon:  Unveiling of Judge Lora Livingston’s portrait, new Civil and Family Courthouse (CFCF) Facility, 1700 Guadalupe Street. There will be parking available in the lot located underneath the CFCF Plaza between 17th and 18th Streets (enter garage via San Antonio Street) that will be open to the public during this event. The ribbon cutting for the new building will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 8, from 3:00 -4:30 p.m.: Retirement Party for Judge Melissa Goodwin, Third Court of Appeals, 209 W. 14th Street.

Wednesday, December 14, at 1:00 p.m.: Unveiling of Portraits for Judge Nancy Hohengarten and Judge John Lipscombe, Auxiliary Courtroom, Room 1.200, 1st floor of the Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center, 509 W. 11th Street.

Wednesday, January 4, at 3:00 p.m.: Investiture for Judge Brandy Mueller/403 District Court along with remarks from Judge Selena Alvarenga (460th) and Judge Dayna Blazey (167th), and Portrait Unveiling for Judge Brenda Kennedy, Room 2.100, 2nd floor of the Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center, 509 W. 11th Street.

Thursday, January 5, at 3:00 p.m.: Investiture for Judge Bianca Garcia, County Court #3, Judge Mary Ann Espiritu, County Court #5, and Judge Denise Hernandez, County Court at Law #6, Auxiliary Courtroom, Room 1.200, 1st floor of the Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center, 509 W. 11th Street.

Friday, January 6, 3:00 p.m.: Investiture for Judge Daniella DeSeta Lyttle, 261st District Court, and Laurie Eiserloh, 455th District Court, Civil and Family Courthouse Facility, 1700 Guadalupe Street.

The ribbon cutting for the New Civil and Family Courts Facility (CFCF) will be held on Friday, December 2nd, beginning 1:00 p.m. at 1700 Guadalupe Street.
 
Judges Unveiled
Portraits for Judge Nancy Hohengarten and Judge John Lipscombe will be unveiled on Wednesday, December 14th at  1:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Courtroom Room 1.2, on the 1st floor of the Criminal Justice Complex.

Burleson County is accepting letters of interest to fill a contract defense attorney position. This contract position is being funded by a grant from the Texas Indigent Defense Commission (TIDC) aimed at reducing the Covid-19 related case backlog. Must meet minimum requirements  listed below and more.

a. currently Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas;
b. practiced in the area of criminal law for at least three years, and practiced criminal law in the Courts of Bastrop, Burleson, Lee or Washington County, TX for at least one year.
